What is Locus?
Locus is an AI-native command center for macOS. It’s built to end the daily grind of juggling apps and endless context-switching. Unlike today’s launchers that can only find things, Locus can act on them. With a conversational interface and a unified canvas, it turns multi-step workflows into single, fluid commands.

Why are you building this?
The idea grew out of my own workflow. I noticed I was using my AI-powered code editor for everything (writing, analysis, ideation), not just coding. That experience showed me a faster, more natural way to work. It also proved how outdated the traditional desktop metaphor has become: a clutter of windows and tabs slowing us down.

Who are you?
My name is Midhun Dandamudi, an engineer with 10+ years of experience building scalable, high-performance products. I’ve co-founded startups, built AI products from scratch, and most recently led the development of education tools at GPTZero.

Is this an operating system?
Locus starts as an application that runs on top of your existing OS (macOS first). The goal is to first build an indispensable command center that users love. The long-term vision is to create a complete, integrated desktop experience, but the first step is to solve the workflow problem within today's environment.

How can I try it?
Locus is in the very early stages of development. I am currently building the initial product. For updates on progress and to be notified about early access, please check back here.
